Barnhardt William Franklin Barnhardt, 82, died at 5:45 a.m. today at his home, 1015 Desoto Ave. He had been in declining health several years and seriously ill one week. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church by Rev. Paul Berrier. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The body will remain at Whitley’s Funeral Home until placed in state at the church one half hour prior to the services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday. A native of Stanly County and the son of the late Sidney Barnhardt and Mrs. Julie Hatless Barnhardt, he had made his home here since 1912, and was employed by Cannon Mills on the first shift in No. 1 weave dept. at Plant 1 until his retirement 12 years ago. Mr. Barnhardt was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and active in the Men’s Bible Class. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eva King Barnhardt; three daughters, Mrs. Floey Gales of West End, Mrs. Thomas Marshall and Mrs. Ervin Lowder of Kannapolis; three sons, James Barnhardt of Kannapolis, Frank of Virginia Beach, Va., and Bobby Barnhardt of Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Thompson and Mrs. L. O. Connor both of Kannapolis; one brother, Elmer Barnhardt of Kannapolis; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great- great grandchildren.
