Werne were married in the First Presbyterian church of Concord. The ceremony, performed by Dr. C.M. Payne, was impressive in solemn tenderness and fervent invocation. The church was filled with personal friends and spectators who spent the moments of waiting at the advent of the wedding party in admiring the floral decorations and enjoying the inspiriting music rendered on the organ by Prof. R.L. Husler, accompanied by Mr. L. Smith on bass violin and by Mr. Parker on trombone. The wedding march played by these three as the bridal party entered the church was exceedingly sweet. The bride's maid of honor was her sister, Miss Helen Johnston, the brides maids being Miss Jennie Gibson, Miss Sue McDonald, Miss Rebecca Duval and Miss Claude Fisher. The groom's best man was his brother and the ushers were Mr. Charles Wadsworth, Mr. Gowan Dusenbury, Mr. Robert Ridenhour and Mr. Gowan. Mr. and Mrs. Werne left on north bound train for a Northern tour and will make their home in Richmond, Va.
