Cabarrus County, NC - Will of Christian Avendshine, 1794 Will of Christian Avendshine 9 April 1793 Cabarrus County North Carolina Will Book A - Pages 112 & 113 In the name of God Amen, I Christian Avendshine, of the County of Cabarrus and State of North Carolina, being very sick and weak of body, but of perfect mind and memory, Blessed be God for the same, considering the mortality of my body, and that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament. First I give and recommend my soul into the hand of God that gave it and my body to the earth to be buryed in decent like and Christian burial at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give and devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First I will that all lawful debts and funeral charges be paid. Secondly I give and bequeath to my dearly and beloved wife Catron Avendshine the benefit of my dwelling house wherein I now live and her bed and furniture and her chest and all the clothes and spinning wheel with one good cow and calf and all my household furniture that she chooses to keep and the benefit of her garden and one fourth part of all kind of fruits which doth hereafter grow on my orchard if she chooses that much all which articles I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Cathran during her life and at her death to bequeath the said property to whosoever she will and also I give and bequeath to my said wife ten pounds hard money out of my estate. Thirdly I give and bequeath to my well beloved son, Rinehold Avendshine, the plantation whereon I now live containing one hundred and sisty three acres of deeded land with the improvements thereon to him and his heirs forever. And also all the fences that was first made to the said old improvements which now falls in my daughter Catherins land. Fourthly I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved daughter, Catherin Propst seventy acres of land whereon she now lives to be by her freely cultivated until her son Henry comes to the age of twenty one years and then said land joining Kresses land and Safrits land fall to her son, Henry to him and his heirs forever and all the rest of my estate to be equally divided amongst all my children, namely Rinehold Avendshine, Darity Culp's children, Madlena Slough, and Catrin Propst. And I also give to my grandaughter Catrin the sum of ten shillings to be levied out of my estate. And I constitute and appoint my trusty friend Goseph Shinn and Rinehold Avendshine my executors of this my last will and testament and I do utterly revoke and disannull all other former wills and testaments.
