Goodman, Daniel - 1862 - Cabarrus County, NC - Wills Submitted for use in the USGenWeb Project Archives by Dan Manship In the Name of God Amen, State of North Carolina Cabarrus County. I Daniel Goodman of the County and State aforesaid, calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed unto man once to die - and being of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this as my last will and testament in the way and manner following viz. First I command my soul to God who gave it and my body to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner and as touching the good things of this life wherewith God hath helped me. I will and bequeath in the following manner. - 1st It is my will that all my property and effects remain as they now are until the 1st of January 1863, provided however that if my surviving family and my Executor agree that is would be for the best to sell certain of my perishable property such as Cattle, Hogs, & G. - that they are privileged to do so. 2nd It is my will that my three oldest children John J. Daniel J. - Elizabeth S. have all my lands lying East of the new public road heading from Concord to Mount Moriah passing by Stafford Goodmans to A. Books[?] & C. and that each of my said three oldest children share equally in said lands. - 3rd It is my will that on or soon after the 1st of January 1863, executor shall publicly sell all my remaining property, the negroes to be sold, or hired as my executor may think best, and the proceeds of said property, and negroes if sold, shall be distributed as the law now directs. - 4th It is my will that my beloved wife Mary Ann have all her own beds and furniture and they are hereby exempt from sale. 5th It is my will that my three oldest children John J., Daniel J., and Elizabeth S. have each a good bed and furniture which belonged to their mother and that the same are also exempt from sale. - 6th It is my will that my friend Solomon Fisher Jr. be my executor of this my last will and testament and I do hereby appoint him to execute this my last will and testament signed and sealed and delivered February 22, 1862.
