Hagler johnblair69@msn.com February 27, 2008, 4:16 pm Source: N C Archives Written: 1808 In the Name of god Amen I John Hagler Senr of the state of North Carolina and County of Cabarrus being weak in body but perfecly Sound in mind and memory D make and Ordain this my Last will and Testament and do utterly Revoke and Disanul all other wills by me made & first I will and Dissire that all my just Debts be honestly paid and then I will that my body be Decently buried in a Christian manner and my soul I give to god who gave it; Secondly Item. I give to my wife Caty Hagalar two cows choice out of my Stock and one mare Chois out of my Stock of horses; and one Negro wench Named Agge (and her Increase) and Two Negro boys Named jim and Sam; and I will and Dissire that if my wife Should think proper She is at Liberty to Sell the said Negros and Equaly Devide the money between all my heirs Lawfully begotten of her body; and the youse of the plantation I now Live on and all the household & chiching Furniture with the plantation Tools to her During her Lifetime or widowhood and at her Decec or Marage to be Equally Devided between all my heirs males & females; Item I give to my three Sons Lenard Hagler & Jacob Hagler & Charles Hagler the Land and plantation as I now Live on; after my wifes Deceace to be Equaly Devided between them; and the Remaining part of my Stock and propity not yet mentioned; to be Sold and Equaly Devided between all my [words crossed out] and I do Constitute ordain and apoint Jacob Long and John Hagler Junr my Excutors to this my last will and Testament In Witness whereof I have Sit my hand and Seale this forth Day of October one thousand Eight hundred & eight Sind in presents of } German signature Jas Love } Additional information: As the crow flies James Love's land was about three miles away. He was one of the four partners who developed John Reed's Gold Mine (now a historic site). John Hagler, Jr., son of the above John, married Mary "Polly" Love in April 1795 and she was a daughter of James Allison Love. The other coexecutor was Jacob Long who was the husband of Barbara Hagler who was a daughter of cripple John Hagler. Jacob Long was a son of Henry and Catherine who were the parents of Magdalene who married Phillip Hagler (son of ol' John whose will you already put on line) and Phillip was my direct third great grandfather.
