Davis of the county of Cabarrus and state of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of life do therefore make and declare this to be my last will and testament. That is to say, first after all my just and lawful debts are paid and discharged, the reside of my estate, real and personal, I give, bequeath and dispose of, as follows. I direct that my land on which I now live be divided as follows beginning at a stone the corner of S. Johnston's land, P. M. Morris' land and my land and run to post oak the corner of P. M. Morris' land the land of the Walker heirs and my land. All the land north of said line adjoining the land of P.M. Morris I will to my son Robert H. Davis and his heirs. All the land south of said line and adjoining the lands of S. N. Johnston, Alexander and Haris, M. H. H. Caldwell and the Walker heir, I will to my son John Williamson Davis. I will and direct that my son Robert H. Davis, within two years, shall pay to my daughter Esther Jane Johnston the sum of one hundred dollars, without interest. I will and direct that my son John Williamson Davis, within two years shall pay to my daughter Isabella the sum of one hundred dollars, without interest. I will and direct that my son Robert and Williamson within two years shall pay to each of the children of my deceased daughter Mary E. McEachern the sum of ten dollars. The said Robert and Williamson to pay equal part of this sum. I will to my daughter Isabella one cow her choice. I will and direct that wife and daughter Isabella remain on my farm and that they receive a support and maintainance from my farm during the time that they remain unmarried. I will and direct that all my other livestock and farming and mechanics tools remain on the place for the use of my family who are now with me. I make and appoint my said son John Williamson Davis and my son-in-law Thomas N. Johnston to be executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed name and affixed my seal the 30th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty seven (1887). John H. Davis late of our county is deseased having first made and published his last will and testament and that John Williamson Davis and Thomas Johnston are the executors named therein the latter of whom declines to act or qualify hereto attaching his renunciation. Further, that the property of the said John H. Davis consisting of personal property and real estate is worth about $1400.00 as far as can be ascertained at the date of this application and that the parties named and designated in said will are the parties entitled under said will to the said property.
