Cabarrus County, NC - Will of Jain White, 1827 Will of Jain White In the name of God and calling into mind the mortality of my Body, knowing that it is appointed for all men to die, do judge it my duty to make this my last will and testament and first I give my soul to God who give it to me and my body to be decently interred at the direction of my friends, being certain that God will reestablish it at the last day, and of the worldly wherewith God had blest me, I dispose of in the following manner: And First I do order all my just debts to be paid. Secondly, I give to my two grandsons, James and Alexander C Scott, my two beds with their common close to be delivered when they put a head-stone to their mother's grave such as her sisters have; and next plase I give to my grand-daughter Jain White my chest. next plase I give to my grandson Alexander White one Dutch oven; next plase I give to my grand-daughter Jain Sarah White all my household and kitchen furniture with my saddle; next plase I give to my grandson Robert William White on heifer; next plase I give to my son James White one cow and windmill with all the farming tools; next plase my funeral expenses to be paid and two head-stones to be purchased, one for myself and one for my son Robert White, and twenty-three dollars to my son James White and three dollars to the use of Rocky River Church and the balance of my money to be divided into three equal shares, one to my son Robert's children, one to my son, Thomas White and one to my son James White; and my executor to divide my books as they see proper and I do hereby appoint my son James White Executor of this my last will and testament and do hereby renounce all wills heretofore made.
