Entered railway service 1876, since which he has been consecutively 1876 to 
1888, conductor Western North Carolina and Richmond & Danville Rd;
1888 to 1892, traveling passenger agent East Tennessee Virginia & Georgia Ry;
traveling passenger agent Chicago & Alton Rd, with headquarters at 
Asheville, NC;
June 1892 to June 1893, traveling passenger agent Seaboard Air Line at 
Charlotte, NC;
June 1893 to Aug. 1894, general traveling passenger agent, and Aug. 1894 to 
June 1900, general agent passenger department same road at Atlanta, Ga., 
having charge of the company's business in the South;
June 1900 to date, successively superintendent of transportation Atlantic & 
North Carolina Rd and general manager Tennessee Ry.
