Death Of Aaron C. Downs
The Standard of Raleigh, Sept. 10, 1862
    AARON C. DOWNS, of the 26th Regiment, Company I, of Caldwell County, North 
Carolina, died in the South Carolina Hospital of congestive chills, August 
22nd, aged 18 years. He went into service 18 months ago, was in the battle at 
Newbern, N. C. and through all the fighting below Richmond, that his regiment 
was in. He leaves an elder brother in the service; also a father and mother 
and four brothers and sister to mourn his loss.
