        DEATH OF COL. DAVENPORT
  -- The Charlotte Whig learns from a letter from Lenoir, that COL. DAVENPORT 
is dead. He died on the 18th ult. He was in the 90th year of his age. He was 
one of the oldest and most influential citizens of Caldwell County.
