M. STORY CONDUCTED SUN. Funeral services for Jerry Marr Story, 86, who died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Oma Story on Spainhour Street, Lenoir, at 10:00 o’clock Friday morning following a lingering illness, were held from the Patterson Methodist Church at 2:00 o’clock Sunday afternoon. Rev. Hoyt Knight officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery. The deceased was born on December 13, 1858, in Watauga County. He spent most of his life in that county where he was in the sawmill and lumber business. His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Hampton Story, died in 1900. He is survived by two sons, Tom Story, Valmead, Melvin Story, Lenoir; three daughters, Mrs. Louisa Carlton, Patterson, Mrs. Oma Story, Lenoir, and Mrs. Mamie Criag, Lenoir, 33 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survives. Grandsons of Mr. Story acted ad pallbearers, while his granddaughters served as flower girls.
