Personal research as of January 2013
Rufus John Forbes was born October 13, 1853 at Camden, North Carolina to John 
Marion Forbes and Elizabeth Sarah Bell. Rufus was the oldest of six children. 

He married Josephine Barta on November 19, 1890. 

They had 3 children: Florence, Mavia and Oscar.

Josephine died before the 1900 census was taken. 

Rufus next married Agnes Maud Dales in 1900 at Iowa, they had no children. 

Rufus John Forbes died March 13, 1932 at Iowa and was buried at the Jefferson 
Cemetery, Jefferson, Greene, Iowa.

Found in the 1860 census living at Camden, North Carolina: John M Forbes 34, 
Elizabeth Forbes 25, Rufus Forbes 6, Francess Berry 55, John S Morgan 27. His 
father was a farmer.

Found in the 1870 census at Taylor, Ogle, Illinois: John M Forbes 45, 
Elizabeth Forbes 37, Rufus Forbes 17, Morley Forbes 8, William Forbes 3, 
Samuel Forbes 1/12, Francis Berry 60, Thomas Keaton 18. 

Found in the 1880 census at Hardin, Greene, Iowa: John M. Forbes 54, E. S. 
Forbes 46, R. J. Forbes 25, M. C. Forbes 17, Willie J. Forbes 12, Samuel P. 
Forbes 9, Francis Berry 75. 

Found in the 1895, 1900 censuses at Jefferson, Shelby, Iowa: 
1895: Rufus J Forbs age 41. 1900: Rufus J Forbes 46, Florence S Forbes 7, 
Mavia E Forbes 5, Oscar B Forbes 3, Cloe Stepleton 21. 

Found in the 1910, 1915 censuses at Manning, Carroll, Iowa: 1910: Rufus J 
Forbes 55, Aggie M Forbes 38, Florence L Forbes 16, Maria E Forbes 14, Oscar B 
Forbes 12. (Believe the 3 children belonged to Rufus but Agnes was not their 
birth mother.) Working as a railroad agent w/ Northwestern.

Forbes 76, Agnes Forbes 56.
