C., a short time since, MRS. TAMAR PERKINS, wife of CALEB PERKINS, ESQ., and relict of the HON. DEMPSY BURGES, former Representative in Congress from this District. For patience under a long life of suffering, for meekness and suavity of temper, for Christian piety and benevolence, for humility and decency of deportment, she may challenge all the tabernacles of the dead, as well as the living, for her superiority. It is impossible to do justice to her character, for we cannot compare others to her with any fairness, as she had more to bear and bore it better than ever falls to human lot. She was bereft of a fond husband, and of several children in succession, until her blood ceased to communicate with other mortals, and for the last ten years of her life, she enjoyed not one moment of health, although her countenance wore an eternal sunshine of contentment: If any being deserved a better state, she, of all others, must be happiest. For a purer soul never inhabited an early tenement.
