Forehand, Cornelius - 1728 - Camden/Pasquotank Co., NC - Wills Cornelius Forehand, dated 26 Jul 1728 - submitted by Kathleen Fort Below is a copy of the will of Cornelius Forehand who immegrated from Ireland and settled in or near South Mills, NC (currently Camden Co./formerly Pasquotank Co.) I have been told the most Forehand's in the US are decended from this man. I have spoken with an Edward Forehand via telephone -- he lives in South Mills and tells me he is the last Forehand left there. Forehand's have many ties to Camden/Pasquotank Co. According to Mr. Forehand, the man who gave my cousin the copy of this will, Cornelius purchased land at least three times. On April 19, 1714 he purchased 100 acres of land from William Joy, on April 20, 1714 he purchased an additional 100 acres from William Joy. Sometime in the year 1718 Cornelius purchased another 100 acre tract. I do not know if it was purchased from the same William Joy although this would make sense. I have tried to reproduce the will as closely as possibly including spelling and the like. There are parts of the will that could not be read on the copy. Mr Forehand translated most of the will and I managed to decepher a few more words that he could not figure out. Please note the 1700 spelling of "gon" for gun, "eakers" for acres, "ginning" for beginning, "darter" for daughter, "deay" for day. I have been attempting to make my own connection to Cornelius and in the process have met many Forehand's on the net. I would be willing to be an e-mail contact for other Forehand researchers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Last Will and Testament of Cornelius Forehand as translated by William Whitehurst Forehand Shiloh, North Carolina In ye name of GOD aman ye twenty forth day of February in ye year of our Lord 1727-8 of Cornelius Forehand of north est parish of Pasquotank being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto GOD therefore calling unto mind ye mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally first of all I give and recommend my soul unto ye hands of GOD that gave it and for my body I recommend it to ye earth to be buried and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased GOD to bless me in this life.
