Easter Monday 15 April 1745: Entry signed by DAVID SHEPARD, church warden. 29 April 1746: DAVID SHEPARD, late church warden settled his account. 20 April 1747: Whereas Mr. DAVID SHEPARD in his [capacity] as the church warden in his district... Mr. SHEPHERD hath paid to Mr. RUSH ....in full balance. 20 March 1744 to 20 April 1740: DAVID SHEPARD on Vestry. 30 March 1752: Ordered that BIRD? SHEPARD be paid 5.13 pounds for keeping JOSEPH HOLMES one year to the 19th April next. 28 April 1752: Major DAVID SHEPARD rendered an account for his son DAVID, deceased, former church warden of the money received of a vestry in year 1752 Ordered that CORNELIUS CANADY BE PAID. 1757: Ordered that JOSEPH BALE pay MAJ. DAVID SHEPARD 20 shillings as part of former order. 1760: Ordered that Maj. DAVID SHEPARD be paid for a burrying (sic) sheat for JOHN CHEN, dec'd. Mr. CORNELIUS CANADY appeared & qualified as a vestryman according to law. This vestry orders that Mr. ROBERT READ CW provide a place for JOHN CHEIR and his child, parishioners as cheap as he can and that DAVID SHEPARD and ELIZABETH JONES be allowed the time they kept him at their rate. Test. JOHN SHEPARD, Clerk of the Vestry. 30 June 1760. JOHN SHEPARD appointed Clerk of Vestry and that he be allowed 40 shillings per year for the same. Church at Newport River, 20 May 1760 - This vestry allows DAVID SHEPARD, Esq. the sum of 10 shillings for one barrel and half of tar to tar the church on Newport River. SOLOMON SHEPARD, Esqr., Sheriff, brought in his amount for the money he received for the years 1765 and paid ... for the year.
