Carteret County, NC - Thomas Marshall & other Sheriffs - Act for Relief ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ An Act for the relief of Thomas Marshall, sheriff of Carteret county, Stephen Owens, sheriff of Beaufort county, and Wyatt Moye, sheriff of Greene county Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the penalty of two hundred pounds, incurred by Thomas Marshall, sheriff of Carteret county, Stephen Owens, sheriff of Beaufort county, and Wyatt Moye, sheriff of Greene county, for failure to make due returns of the number of electoral votes for President and Vice President, taken in their respective counties at the late election, be, and the same is hereby remitted and discharged: Provided, that the said Thomas Marshall, Stephen Owens and Wyatt Moye pay all the costs that may have accured on any process issued by the attorney general in consequence of their failure to make returns according to law.
