All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sloan Mason http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00023.html#0005630 November 6, 2024, 7:31 pm Written: March 24, 1856 Recorded: March 24, 1856 Source: George Vick Carteret Co., NC Thomas DUDLEY to Benjamin STATON, both of Carteret Co., NC 24 March 1856 Know all men by these presents the I, Thomas DUDLEY of the County of Carteret and State of North Carolina, for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Benjamin STATON of the same County and State, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell to the said Benjamin STATON, his heirs and assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land situate in the County of Carteret on the West side of the North River, containing one hundred and twenty acres, more or less, (with the exception hereinafter mentioned) which said tract is bounded as follows: beginning at a stone planted by Isaac HELLEN? and myself, to mark the boundaries of our land, running thence South half West forty three poles & 15 links to HATCHER’S patent line, thence to the North West corner of SHAW’S patent, thence with the lines of SHAW’S patent East to North River, thence North with the river to a point East of the beginning stone, thence to the beginning. To have and to hold the said land and premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging, except the part of said tract which Henry DUDLEY, conveyed to the said Benjamin STATON by deed dated this day. The said tract of lands adjoins the land of PIVERS and is described in a deed from Isaac HELLEN to Thomas DUDLEY, dated April 20th 1840. And I the said Thomas DUDLEY for myself and my heirs, do hereby covenant to and with the said Benjamin STATON and his heirs and assign, that I have before the execution of this deed, full right, absolute and lawful authority to sell the said land and appurtenances and agree hereby to warrant and forever defend the right and title of the same to him the said Benjamin STATON his heirs and assigns forever. In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and dealt he 24th day of March A.D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty six. Thomas DUDLEY (Seal) Signed sealed & delivered in presence of Jas.
