Pension
Revolutionary soldier ABSALOM MARTIN (S41800) of Carteret participated in the 
Battle of Eutaw Springs. He enlisted at Beaufort in 1781 in Capt. William 
Dennis' Company the 1st Regt. of the Continental Line commanded by Col. 
Lighton. He served one year as a Private. Martin was enrolled for pension on 
17 Sept. 1818. He was 75. He was a native of Beaufort, Carteret. At the time 
of his pension application he gave his occupation as farmer. He gave the names 
and ages of his family: Rachel, 75, his wife; William, 13, a grandchild; 
Jacob, 12, a grandchild and David, 9, a grandchild.

He was born in 1745 and died on 30 Sept. 1828.
