SURRY - Nannie 'Nan' Elizabeth Addison, 89, passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 
2007. A native of Beaufort, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Hertford H. 
and Effie Hardy Gardner. She had been a Surry resident most of her life. Nan 
was a member of Surry United Methodist Church. Nan will be remembered as a 
beloved wife and homemaker, mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by her 
husband, Herbert Addison Jr., and four sisters and three brothers, Nan is 
survived by her son, Robert L. Addison and his wife, Betty, of Elberon; two 
grandchildren, Cynthia Williamson and her husband, Aaron, of Surry and Stephen 
Addison and his wife, Tracy, of Claremont; and eight great-grandchildren. A 
graveside funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, in 
Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Gary Ross officiating. The family will receive 
friends in the home of the son. The family suggests memorial contributions to 
the Surry Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 233, Surry, VA 23883. Arrangements 
are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield.
