Guy Hamilton was terrified when the supposed corpse protested the obsequies. The lid was being screwed upon the casket when Mrs. Dixon exclaimed: "Please don't put the cover on just now." The woman had been unconscious. She had been in failing health for some weeks, and it was said she had "passed away" quietly. The body became rigid and pale. The preacher was sent for and other arrangements made and many of the people of the village gathered for the burial. Some of these left hurriedly when Mrs. Dixon regained consciousness.
