Written: December 2, 1815

In the Name of God Amen I John Casey Senr of Portsmouth in the county of 
Carteret and State of North Carolina, being weak in body but of sound mind 
and memory (Blessed be to God) do this day being the second day of December 
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen make and 
publish this my last will and testament in manner following (that is to say)

First I leave fifty acres of land in Craven County on South River at the 
head of Rials Creek to be sold by my wife Elizabeth Casey and the money 
arising therefrom to go to her, to help support her on.

Also I give and bequeath to my son Natintine Casey a black horse with a 
white star in his forehead.

And all the rest of my estate both real and personal which I may die 
possessed of, I leave to my well beloved wife Elizabeth Casey to hold to her 
during her natural life, to live and support herself upon, she making no 
waste or destruction thereof.

And from after her decease, I give and bequeath whatever there may be of the 
same both real and personal to be equally divided among my children (or 
their representatives) viz, John Casey Junr, Amelia Quidley, Levi Casey, 
Philip Casey, Natintine Casey and Sally Casey (wife of Jesse Casey) her part 
to go to herself and children alone, and to no other purpose or use 
whatever, and to be at the alone disposal of the said Sally Casey.

And I make and ordain my said wife sole Executrix of this my last will and 
testament for the intents and purposes therein contained. 

In witness whereof, I the said John Casey Senr have to this my last will and 
testament set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

Signed, Sealed, and Delivered by the said John Casey Senr and for his last 
will and testament in the presence of us who were present at the signing and 
sealing thereof. Philip X Casey and Natintine X Casey.

State of North Carolina, Carteret County
Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions, September Term 1828
I certify that the foregoing written paper was then exhibited into open 
court and duly proved by the oath of John Mayo one of the subscribing 
witnesses thereto, to contain the true last will and testament of John Casey 
Sen and Elizabeth the Executrix therein named qualified as such and on
