The original will that was transcribed from script was written as one long piece without paragraphing. In The Name of God Amen I Peleg DURFEY of Carteret County and Provence of North Carolina, Weak in Body but of Perfect mind and memory Make this my Last Will and Testament: First I desire to be Decently buried at the Discretion of Executor…. My Estate and Effects that it hath Please God to Bless me with I Will and Bequeath and Dispose of in Manner and form Following, After all my Just Debts and Funeral Charges be Pountully (?) paid ~ ~ ~ ~ Itim I give and Bequeath to my Wife Hanah in New England One Shilling Starling, Itim ~ I give to my Eldest Daughter Sarah One Shilling Starling ~ Itim I give and bequeath to my Daughter Ruth One Shilling Starling Itim I give and bequeath to my Daughter Aimme one Shilling, Itim I give and bequeath to my Son Peleg Durfey five Shillings Starling, Itim I give and bequeath to my Son George A peace or Porsel of Land lying and being On the West sid of North River Containing one Hundred and twenty five Acres ~ Itim I give and bequeath to my loving wife Sarah Durfey two Acres of Land which I had a leas for From her father Thomas Gillikin During her life time lying at Aplace Called the Potato Patch Itim I give and bequeath to my wife Sarah one Hundred and Fifty Weight of Bacon all so my live Hougs and Poultery Two Beds and beding to them beloning all so Six Barrails of Corn ….. fat thirty weight all so One Sorral Mair Reserving The first coult that She Shall bring, which I give and bequeath to my son George.
