Item I give and bequeath to these my two beloved Daughters Bety and Sarah Gillett all their Mothers close to be equaly divided between them. Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved Daughter Bety one good fether bed and fourniture. Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved Daughter Sarah one good bed and fourniture. Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved Daughter Bety Gillett one gray mare called Fly (?) and her yearling. Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved Daughter Sarah Gillett one Sorel (?) Mare called Dimond and her yearling. Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved Daughter Bety Gillett five cows and calfs now to be paid her. Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved Daughter Sarah Gillett five cows and calfs now to be paid her. It is my will and desiar that the rest of my personal estate should be sould att publick vandue for redy (?) money att the discretion of my Exitors here after mentioned, all my lawful debts being paid and the remainder(?) To be put out upon Intrest for my two well beloved daughters Bety Gillett and Sarah Gillett and the hole, both princible and intrest to be paid to them att sixteen years of age or on mariag day. And further it is my will and desiar that if they my two daughters should die without aer that I assign over and give to my well beloved brother Moses Gillett the land and plantation that is willed to them and further it is my desiar that if these my to children Bety and Sarah Gillett die without are that the rest of my estate should be equly divided betwen my two well beloved brothers, Patterson Gillett and Anderson Gillett. I appoint and ordain my trusty and well beloved brother Moses Gillett and my trusty and well beloved friend Moses Houston to be my hole and sole Extrs. revoking all other will or wills acnoledging this and only this for to be my last will and testament. Signed with my assinement and sailed with my sail this 29 of December(?) in the year of our LORD CHRIST 1753 John Gillett (? Can’t read.. Looks like a word beginning with E in the same writing as the last line of will) John Piggott Ezekil Houston (______?) (John Gillett appears to have written this will himself in a fairly plain hand. I have preserved the spelling and punctuation as much as possible. There is a remnant of a red wax seal beside his signature) March Court 1756 Present his Majesties Justices Then was the above & within will proved in open court by the Oath of Ezekial Houston. Anderson Gillett the witness (afore)mentioned Executor qualified at the same in due form of law (____) John Smith Clerk Recorded March 23, 1756 Additional Comments: This is the son of John Gillett, who migrated from the Eastern Shore to NC and who lived in Onslow County and whose will was filed in Craven County. John II's surviving brothers were Anderson, Moses, and Patterson Gillett. His children were Betty and Sarah Gillett. His wife was Sarah Dudley, child of Thomas Dudley and Elizabeth Jarrot.
