Book 22-554 signed 1-2-1897  filed 1-20-1899 for registration at 9:00 and duly 
registered N.J. Taylor-Trustee. This indentured made and entered into the 2nd 
day of January 1897 by ABNER PHELPS and LEANNA GARLAND of Caswell County 
indebted to Bettie T Rainey for house sold by
her in the sum of $68.00 for which the said ABNER PHELPS has executed and 
delivered to Betty for
his bond and even date with this deed in sum of $68.00 payable $16.00 a month 
after date with intent at
rate of 6 per curium? annum.  (This is a long deed...) corner of stamps and 
Levin line on GARLAND line of
the east bank of a branch  thence with said GARLAND line in northerly corner 
201 yards to a corner
thence in an easterly corner 448 yards to a corner of said Lewis line thence 
said containing 30 acres more
or less.  Also one brown mare name LUCY to have and to hold land and premises 
with all rights
privileges and apprentices belonging to NJ Taylor.  ABNER and LEANNA both 
signed and  X.
