Edwards medwards@netscape.com August 10, 2007, 11:19 am Sharon Tribune Obituary of James Monroe Terrell* (June 10, 1826 - Feb.15, 1913) James Monroe Terrell, was born June 10, 1826, in North Carolina, near Yancyville [sic}. He died Feb. 15, 1913, age eighty-six years, eight months and 5 days. He moved to Madison county, Tenn., in 1853, and from there to Weakley county in 1854. He was married to Miss Mary S. [sic] Long, on Feb. 17, 1863. [Typographical error: Miss Long's middle initial was "A." for Angeline, not "S".] To this union was born nine children-six boys and three girls. Three children preceded him, leaving six children with his wife to mourn his death-four boys and two girls. He lived a long and honorable life, always ready to assist a neighbor. He was a man who attended to his own business and never meddling with the affairs of other people. He was not a member of the church, but lived a moral and peaceful life. Funeral services was [sic] conducted by Revs. Newberry and Webb Jackson. The body was laid to rest Sunday at the New Hope burying ground in the presence of a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives. * Published originally by The Dresden Enterprise and Sharon Tribune.
