...the body of William T Smith of Milton, NC...who was found dead in the store of 
M H Collum & brother, which store was kept by William T Smith on Friday night 7-
28-1865 at 11:00.  William was killed about 9:00 Friday by some person not certain 
to us, who with an ax or hatchet inflicted one large wound on the back of the head 
and two smaller ones on the front of it .. believe it was committed by James A 
Burch of Milton
