Caswell County, NC - John Walters to Catherine Newton, 1789

State of North Carolina

Know all men by these presents, that we John Walters & Paul Walters
are held and firmly bound unto his Excellency Samuel Johnston Esqr
& in the Just and full sum of Five Hundred Pounds to be paid unto
the said Sam'l Johnston Esq and his successors and assigns To the
which payment is well and truly to be made we bind Ourselves our
Heirs Exc'rs or Adm'r Joyntly & Severally firmly by these presents
Sealed with our Seals & Dated the 29th day of Novem'r Anno Dom 1789

The Condition of this Obligation is such that Whereas the above
bounden John Walters hath this day obtained a License to be Joyned
in Holy Matrimony with Cathrein Newton - If therefore there should
be no Lawful Impediment why the said John Walters & Cathrein Newton
should not be lawfully Joyned Together in Holy Matrimony then the
above obligation shall be void otherwise to remain in full fource 
& effect
