Written 20 April 1885, probated 3 Aug 1885 on oaths of Livingston Brown and Wm S. Manly. Transcription begins: I, Antiocus Boswell of the county of Caswell and State of North Carolina, being of Sound and disposing mind & memory but mindfull of the great uncertainty of life, do publish and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following (to wit).. After my death and Christian Burial I will and devise first of all that my just debts be paid. In the next place, I give to Mary Soyers daughter of John Soyers and former wife Elizabeth one fether bed and underbed & sead-bed [sic] marked with the letter M, one bolster and two pillows, two sheets and one fine quilt called the Sun flower. I give to Nonna Soyers sister of Molly and daughter of John Soyers and his former wife Elizabeth thirty dollars in money to be paid to her out of my money that may come into my executor's hands at proper time. I give and bequeath to Matha F. Scarlett my wife and daughter of Wm & Sarah Scarlett deceased one feather bed, beadsted and under bed, one bolster & two pillows, four sheets, two blue striped Counterpins one which counterpin figured, one fine figured bed quilt and one blanked [sic] such as she may choose and all the bed clothes she has made herself since she has lived with me, also her work and vails [nails?] and such things as she may designate, and one black muley cow called Mag. I further give to Matha the sum of four hundred & fifty dollars in money to be paid to her out of any money that may come into the hands of my executor hereinafter to be named, at such time as may be most proper, and if after my death Matha should die before receiving this money I will that it remain as part of my Estate but nothing is to come back. I give and bequeath to my niece Frances E. Cobb, now living with me, one figured bedcover, one warm blanket, four sheets, two blue striped counterpins and one white figured counterpin, and the bed clothing she has made herself since she has lived with me. I will her one spotted cow called Lucy. I allso give her the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars in money to be paid to her out [sic] any money that may come into the hands of my executor at such time as may be most proper. The sewing machine belongs to Matha and Frany; it is not my property. I desire and so direct that a slab be put to my grave such a one as I put to my wife's with a plain inscription such as was on hers. I furthermore authorize and direct that my executor hereinafter to be named, after the gathering of the crop it may be or at a proper time, to sell for cash all the remainder of my estate both real & personal not otherwise disposed of; the small tract of land known as the Watling [blank space left here for one word] to be sold separate, all the other land sold togeth [sic]. And after all expenses be paid and my executor be compensated for his service, I will the remainder of my estate be equally divided between all of my brothers' & sisters' children that may be living at that time. I furthermore nominate and appoint my esteemed friend & neighbor Wm W.
