Copy received from North Carolina State Archives.] I Robert Bruce of Caswell County & State of North Carolina being of perfect mind & memory tho very weak in body yet feel my understanding strong as [usual ?] at precasent, and considering the mortality of all men, I am well assured [?] that I shortly must leave this mortal Stage This being the case I desire to Regulate my temporal affaires and make this my Last Will and Testament first I Resign my Emmortal Spirit [illegible] to the hands of God allmighty beging for mercy thro his Son the Saviour of Sinners. Next my will is that [blot] my Dear wife shall retain one Hundred and forteen acres of Land including of this plantation on which I now live and that she shall have all the houshold furniture and all the tools that [blot] for both plantation and shop also that she shall have [Dafney ?] and all the stock during her life [and ? / only ?] that my Daughter Betsy shall have one feather bed & [illegible] also that she shall have [illegible -- it appears that there were two or three words that were scribbled over] one Cow and calf and my will is that my wife shall have my shot gun for the use of the plantation and after the death of my Dear wife my will and Desire is that what as left shall be Equally Divided among all my Daughters my will and Desire is that my wife shall settle and pay all my Debts and that she shall have that sixteen pounds that James Carrel owes me.
