This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Laura Kennon kennonle@bellsouth.net ==================================================================== Last Will and Testament of Joel Kennon/Cannon Recorded in Record M Page 223 I Joel Cannon of the County of Caswell and State of No. Carolina being far advanced in life and declining in health but of sound mind and diposing memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following thereto I give and bequeath to my daughter Sally Murphy on Negro Boy named Patrick for and during her natural life, and after the death of the said Sally to be sold and the property equally divided amongst all the children of the said Sally or their legal representation. Item 2 I give and bequeath to my daughter Dorcas Scott one Negro Boy named Wilkes for and during her natural life and after the death of the said Dorcas to be sold and the property equally divided amongst all her children or their legal representatives. Item 3 It is my will and desire that all the balance of my estate both real and personal which I may possess at my death be by my executor therein after to be appointed sold at public sale on a credit of twelve months and the money arising therefrom after satisfying my Just debts to be equally devided amongst all my children or their legal representatives except Anne Powell to whom property has heretofor been advanced, equal to a distribution share. Lastly, I hereby nominate and appoint my sons Elijah Cannon and James Cannon Executors of this my last will and testament. In testamony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affirmed my seal the 21st day of December Anno Dom 1829 Signed Seald published and declared in the presence of Calvin Graves Alfred M Nash State of North Carolina pleas and quarter sessions Caswell County October Term 1832 The foregoing paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Joel Cannon dec'd was duly affirmed in Court for probate whom the executor of the same here duly proved by the oath of Calvin Graves one of the subscribing witnesses and who also swears that he saw the other subscribing witness towith (Alfred M Nash) attest the same and that he did it in the presence and at the request of the Testator.
