            HARRISON HOUK FROM PAUL MILLER

This indenture made the 25 day of March A. D. 1857, between PAUL
MILLER of the County of Catawba & the State of North Carolina of the
one part & HARRISON HOUK of the County & State aforesaid of the other
part.Witneseth that the said PAUL MILLER for & in consideration of the
sum of two hundred & twenty dollars  and fifty cents to him in hand
paid byHARRISON HOUK at and before the sealing and delivery of these
presants--the receipt and paynent wherof is hearby acknowledge, hathe
given, granted bargained & sold, confeyed aliened & confirmed  unto
the said HARRISON HOUK, his hiers & assigns forever, all of that tract
or parcel of land situate, lying & being in the aforesaid County of
Catawba & State of North Carolina on the waters of Creek jooining
lands of CLINE & others--Beginning at a post oak new marked on Clines
land and runs new lines first s 59 E 70 poles to a black oak, then
N.71 E 117 poles to the Sourwood on FRANKLIN BOLICKS then with his
line S 251/2 W 22 1/2 poles to pointers where a Pine corner
ormerlystood then with Turners Corner , then withCLINES line S 21 1/2
E 117 poles the beginning--Containing in the whole  Sevendy Seven
Acres more or less except about three acres & 1/2 the land holding to
the Miller Church on Meeting house which is included in the fore going
boundaries & is not hereby intended to be conveyed-- To have and to
hold said bargained premises with he said Harrison Houk, his heirs and
assigns forever. And the said PAUL MILLER doth further covenant with
said HARRISON HOUK his heirs and assigns against the claims of him &
his heirs & the claim of all others persons or parson whatsoever. In
Witness where of the said PAUL MILLER hath here to set his hand &
affixed his seal the day & year find above written .
