Civil War Pension Application of Randy V. Taylor, Catawba Co. NC Submitted by Kim Hill Soldier 's Application for Pension- Randy V. Taylor State of North Carolina county of Catawba On this 27 day of May, A.D. 1907, personally appeared before me S.E. Killan, N.P. in and for the State and County aforesaid, R.V. TAYLOR age 69 years and a resident at Hickory N.C. post office in said County and State, and who, being duly sworn, makes the following declaration in order to obtain the pension under the provision of an act entittled " An act to amend chapter 332 of the laws of 1901,for the relief of certain Confederate Soldiers, Sailors and Widows" ratified March 2, 1903: that he is the same R.V. Taylor who enlisted in Co. A, 22nd Reg. on or about 19 March, 1861, to serve in the armies of the late Confederate States,that he was captured on or about May 1-3, 1863, near Chancellorville Va. paroled on May 4, 1863. Captured at Gettysburg Pa. July 3-4, 1863. Confined at Fort Delaware until paroled and transferred to City Point Va. where he was received August 1, 1863, for exchange. He then returned to duty on unspecified date. (Applicate will now state the nature and extent of wounds or disability, so that proper classification can be made under the new Pension Law passed by the General Assembly of 1903.) I, R.V. Taylor am almost blind,weakness of eyes at present and run down and weak from indigestion and not able to do any work scarcly. He also states that he is, and has been for twelve months immediately preceding this Application For Pension, a bona fide resident of North Carolina; that he holds no office under any State or County, for which he is receiving the sum of 300 dollars annually; that he is not worth in his own right or the right of his wife, property at the assessed value of five hundred dollars(500.00), nor has he disposed of property of such value as gift or voluntary conveyance since the 11 of March, 1885, and that he is not receiving any aid fron the State of North Carolina or under any other statue providing for the relief of the maimed and blind soldiers of the State. Taylor- applicant Also appeared before me, Tilman Crider who resides at Hickory NC post-office, in said County and State who I know to be respectable and entittled to credit, and being by me duly sworn, says he is aquanited with R.V. Taylor, the applicant for Pension, and has every reason to believe he is the identical person he represents himself to be, and that the facts set forth in this affidavit are correct to the best of the knowledge and belief, and that he has no interest, direct or indirect, to this claim.
