LILLIAN CARTER ANSELL

   Mrs. Lillian Carter Ansell, 66, wife of Walter Henry Ansell of Broadmoor, 
Portsmouth, died at 5:15 o’clock Sunday afternoon, November 23, after a long 
illness.

   A native of Newsoms, she had made her home in Portsmouth for the past 32 
years. She was a daughter of the late Joe Thomas and Mrs. Maria Beale Carter.

   In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Walter Carter Ansell 
of Broadmoor; one stepdaughters, Mrs. Margaret Murphy of Portlock; four sisters, 
Mrs. Evelyn O’Berry of Suffolk, Mrs. Zeulie Worrell of Newsoms, Mrs. Clara 
Hancock of Sedley, and Mrs. Sarah Culpepper of Portsmouth; five brothers, Allen 
Carter of Cumberland, Beale and Julian Carter of Newsoms, Hugh Carter of 
Norfolk, and Clyde Carter of Richmond; and four grandchildren.

   Funeral services were conducted at the Snelling Funeral Home, Portsmouth, on 
Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock, followed by burial in Pleasant Grove 
Cemetery, Hickory.
