                           MRS ESSIE MAE LAIL

Funeral Services for Mrs. Essie Mae Lail will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at 
Viewmont Baptist Church, Hickory, by the Rev. Albert A. Young, burial will be 
in Bethlehem Church of God Cemetery in Alexander County.
Mrs. Lail, 62, of 1240 Nineteenth Avenue, NE, Hickory, died Sunday at 1:30 
p.m. at Caldwell Memorial Hospital after several years of declining health.
She was born on Jan. 17, 1914, in Alexander County, a daughter of the late 
Sard and Alma Fox Benfield, her husband Fred D. Lail died in 1966. She was a 
member of Viewmont Baptist Church.
The body will remain at Hickory Funeral Home until placed in the church 30 
minutes prior to the funeral. The family will be at the funeral home tonight 
from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Surviving are a son, Perry A. Lail of Hickory; three sisters, Mrs. Wade 
Bumgarner and Mrs. Lewis M. Mitchell, both of Hickory, and Mrs. Cletus Bentley 
of Bethlehem; and three brothers, John Benfield of Alexandria, VA., Sam 
Benfield of Charlotte, and Leroy Benfield of Bethlehem; and one grandchild.
