The Standard of Raleigh; Oct. 3, 1860
STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA -- Chatham County -- Court of Pleas and Quarter 
Sessions, November Term 1860 -- JESSE ROLLINS VS. NANCY BARNUM, NAPOLEON 
HOWARD and wife, SEBEL, SARAH, ANNA H., MARY, and WILLIAM H. BARNUM, minors, 
and their Guardian, BURWELL ROLLINS -- Petition for mill.
It appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that NAPOLEON HOWARD, one of the 
defendants in this case, is a non-resident of this State, or so absconds or 
conceals himself that the ordinary process of law cannot be served upon him, 
it is  therefore ordered by the Court that publication be made for six weeks 
successively in the North Carolina Standard, a paper printed in Raleigh, N. C. 
commanding the said defendant to be and appear at the next Term of this Court, 
to be held for the county of Chatham, at the Court House in Pittsboro' on the 
second Monday of November next to plead, answer or demur to this petition, or 
judgment pro confesso will be taken as to him.
Witness, R.C. COTTON, Clerk of said Court, at office in Pittsboro', the 2nd 
Monday in August, A.D. 1860.
