COUNTY August. Term, 1808

THOMAS STOKES
    VS.
JOHN BARNETT

Original Attachment, returned, “levied on one hammer, weighing 3-1/4 pounds.

It appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the defendant, JOHN 
BARNETT , who is entitled to a part of the tract of land, is not a resident of 
this State. It is therefore ordered by the court that publication be made for 
three successive weeks in the Raleigh Minerva, that unless the said defendant  
appear at the next term of this Court to be held for said Chatham County on 
the 2nd Monday in November  next and plead, answer or demur to this bill, 
judgment will be taken pro confesso against him.
