THIS INDENTURE made this 25th day of September in the year of our Lord one 
thousand seven hundred and eighty three and in the seventh year of our 
Independence between WILLIAM LASETER SENIOR of the one part and ROBERT ELLETTS 
of the County of Chatham and State of North Carolina of the other part. 
Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of sixty pounds current 
money of the State above mentioned I have bargained sold and confirmed and 
these present do bargain sell unto the sd ROBERT ELLETTS one certain tract or 
parcel of land in the County afore mentioned containing one hundred and sixty 
four acres lying on the Haw River Beginning at a sycamore on the bank of the 
Haw River above the head of COPELAND'S Island and running West Eighty poles to 
a stake thence South two hundred and  thirty four  poles to a pine in his old 
line thence East one hundred and forty poles to a white oak on the Bank of the 
River at his old Corner thence up the various courses of the same to the 
Beginning. To Have and to hold the sd. land and premises with the 
appurtanances unto the  sd. ROBERT ELLETTS his heirs, Exrs. and assigns 
forever I set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
