Record of Estates Vol. 1, pg. 149a - NC State Archives film # C.022.50001 Know all men by these presents that I Phebe Clark of the county of Chatham and State of North Carolina in consideration of the good Will Love and affection which I have and bear unto my Infant Grand Daughter Phebe Mott daughter of Joseph Mott deceased late of the County of Cumberland have given granted and delivered (previous to the signing of these presents unto the said Phebe Mott a certain negroe Girl called Sally aged about Eight years old and I do firmly by these presents give grant and deliver the said Negroe girl to have and to hold to the only proper use & behoof of her the said Phebe Mott her Heirs and assigns forever. Winnefred Webb b. about 1770, married Dr. Joseph Mott abt. 1790 + and Dr. Mott died before 1798. Winnefred married (possibly in 1794/5) Rev.
