This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Sue Ashby canova@tstar.net ==================================================================== Indenture of David Sellars - Chatham Co., NC, Record of Estates - 1782-1799 Vol. 2, pg. 44, 44(b), NC State Archives film # C.022.50001 State of North Carolina Chatham County This Indenture made the twenty seventh day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety four and in the Eighteenth year of the Independence of said State Between Sarah Walker of the one part and David Sellars of the other part Witnesseth that the said Sarah Walker do the first place and bind unto the said David Sellars an apprentice and servant of the name of Burkle Walker son of Sarah Walker he being of the age of ten years the sixteenth day of May next with the said David Sellars to live after the manner of an apprentice and servant until the said apprentice shall attain the age of twenty one years During all which time the said apprentice his Master & faithfully shall live his lawful commands every where gladly obey he shall not at any time absent himself from his said masters service without leave but in all things as a good and faithful servant shall behave towards his said Master and the said David Sellars Doth Covenant promise and agree to and with the said Sarah Walker that he will teach and instruct or case to be taught and instructed the said Burkle Walker to learn to read and wright and also the art and mastery of a Black Smith and that I constantly find and proved for the said apprentice During the term afforesaid sufficient Diet working lodging and apparel fitting for an apprentice and also other things necessary wroth in seeking and in health in witness whereof the partys to these presents have Interchangeably set their hands and seals the Day and year above written Sealed and Delivered} in the presence of } signed Sarah (her X mark) Walker {Seal} James Sellars, X David Sellars {Seal}
