Chatham County, NC - Harmon Tedder to William Hencock, 1795 ~~~~~~~~~~ See Chatham Deed Book H, page 161: This indenture made this 19th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five between Harmon Tedder of the County of Granville and State of North Carolina, of the one part, and William Hencock of the County of Wake and state aforesaid, witnesseth that I the said Harmon Tedder for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds current money of this state, to me in hand paid by him the said William Hencock, and recept thereof I do hereby acknowledge, have bargained, granted, sold and delivered unto the said Hencock one tract or parcel of land, lying in the County of Chatham. (To wit) Beginning on John Moores line at a pine running west to a hickory, thence south along Davis's to a post oak, thence east to a post oak, thence north to a pine on John Moore's line, thence west to a stake, thence north to the first station, containing estimation one hundred and fifty acres, to the same, more or less, together with all the appertenences, to said land belonging in or otherwise unto him the said Hencock, excts. etc. and I the said Harmon Tedder do for (believe to be my--hard to read)self, my heirs, excts. etc. covenant to and with him the said Wm Hencock that the above land is clear of all encumbrences whatsoever and will forever warrant and defend the same from the legal claims of any person or persons forever.
