M. Brown, and wife, N. J. Brown, of Chatham County & State of North Carolina, to Josiah Thomas, of said County and State, WITNESSETH: THAT said J. M. Brown, and wife N. J. Brown, in consideration of fifty four dollars & ten cents to them payed by the said Josiah Thomas the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained & sold, and by these presents do bargain, sell and convey to said Josiah Thomas, and his heirs a certain track of land in said County, 7-1/2 acres, and joining the lands of J. R. Thomas and others, bounded as follows viz: by the waters of Shattick Creek. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the aforesaid track of land and all privileges and appurtenances therefot belonging to the said Josiah Thomas his heirs and assignes to him and their only behoof and the same J. M. Brown, his wife N. J. Brown covenant that they are seized with said property in fee, and have the right to convey the same in fee simple; that the same are free from all incumbrances and that they will warrant and defend the said title the same againinst the claims of all persons whatsoever. In Testimony whereof, the said J. M. Brown and N. J. Brown, his wife, have hereunto set their hands and sealed the day and year above written. J. M. Brown, (Seal) N. J. Hold, a Justice of the Peace of Chatham County, is adjudged to be in due form and according to law. Therefore, let the instruments, with the certificates, be registered.
