Wicker & Mary Wicker of Moore Co., NC to Jacob Utley of Chatham Co., NC, dated November 26, 1853, photocopy of original in possession of Mr. Steven G. Weaver, 914 S. Main St., Apt. 2, Belmont, NC, 28012: Know all men by these presents that I C. D. Wicker and Mary Wicker his wife of the County of Moore and state of North Carolina for the valuable consideration of the sum of six hundred dollars $600 to them the said C. D. Wicker and Mary Wicker his wife in hand paid by Jacob Utley of the county of Chatham and state aforesaid the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged we the said C. D. Wicker and Mary Wicker his wife hath bargained and sold and delivered and by these presents doth bargain sell and deliver to the said Jacob Utley his heirs and assigns forever one negro slave to wit a girl by the name of emely aged about Twelve years the Right and title to the said girl emely I the C. D. Wicker and Mary Wicker his wife for their selves and their heirs executors or administrators doth hereby warrant and forever defend unto the said Jacob W. Utley his heirs and assigns free and clear from the claim or claims of myself and all persons claiming through or by me as well as all other person or persons whomsoever in witness whereof we the said C.
