CHATHAM COUNTY, NC - DEEDS - John Welch to Joseph Kirk, 8 Feb 1790 ----¤¤¤¤---- DEED John Welch to Joseph Kirk 8 February 1790 Chatham County, North Carolina, Deed Book A, p 623 _______________________________________________________________________ This indenture made the eighth day of February one thousand seven hundred and ninety between John Welch and Elizabeth his wife of the State of North Carolina and County of Chatham of the one part and Joseph Kirk of the County and State aforesd. of the other part. Witnesseth that said John Welch and Elizabeth his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and thirty pounds ___ to him in hand [paid] by the said Jos. Kirk the receipt of is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold, released and confirmed and by these presents doth from themselves, their heirs and assigns forever all that parcel of land and premises situate and being in the County of Chatham it being part of the middle part of the land I now live on and bounded as follows to wit Beginning at a Black Oak Bun Johnston's* corner running east along Wilson's line one hundred and eight poles to a Hickory tree Henry Welch's corner running north along Henry Welch's line to a Hickory sapling on the south side [a] branch Perkin's corner thence south fifteen rood to a Black Oak sapling thence along Perkin's line seventy rood to a Black Oak sapling thence south east twelve roods to a Black Jack Bush thence parallel with Anson Road twenty-four rood to a Post Oak sapling thence southwest eighteen poles to a Black Jack sapling Perkin's south corner at the cross [Rhodes] thence south along Bun Johnston's* line to the first station containing eighty acres be the same more or less it being part of a track of land formerly granted to Enoch Lewis by and from the Earl of Granville dated February the sixteenth one thousand seven hundred and fifty-eight and also by deed of conveyance from Enoch Lewis unto William Wiley bearing date the eleventh of December one thousand seven hundred and fifty-nine also by deed of conveyance from William Wiley to Walter Welch the twelfth day of March one thousand seven hundred and sixty-three and from Walter Welch and Mary his wife and their heirs to Luke Welch and from Luke Welch to John Welch his son by a claim in his last will and testament and from John Welch to Joseph Kirk also the revertion and revertions remainder and remainder rents and services thereof also all the estate write and title intreat property claim and demand whatsoever of them the said John Welch and Elizabeth his wife their heirs and assigns forever the said parcel of land and premises and every part and parcel thereof unto the said Joseph Kirk his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents against all manner of persons and persons whatever claiming by or under them.
