Know ye that We pursuant to an Act of the General Assembly entitled an Act for the Relief of the Officers and Soldiers in the Continental Line and in consideration of the signal bravery and persevering zeal of Henry Singleton a private in said line have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto John Welch assignee of said Henry Singleton a tract of land containing six hundred forty acres lying and being in our County of Tennessee on the south side of Cumberland River above Yellow Creek adjoining the south boundary of Captain Wm. Armstrong's survey of 3840 acres beginning at a red oak said Armstrong's southeast corner running south two hundred and twenty-six poles to a Dogwood then south four hundred and fifty-two poles to a stake then north two hundred and twenty-six poles to said Armstrong's line then east four hundred and fifty-two poles to the beginning as by the plat hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods, waters, mining, minerals, hereditaments to the said land belonging or appertaining. To hold to the said John Welch, his heirs and assigns forever. Yielding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our General Assembly from time to time may direct, provided always that the said John Welch shall cause this grant to be registered in the Registers office of our said County of Tennessee within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of no effect. In testimony whereof we have caused these our letters to be made patent and our great seal to be hereunto affixed.
