North Carolina Fifth Regiment
The Weekly Standard of Raleigh, N. C. July 3, 1861

FIFTH REGIMENT
We learn that the following officers have been elected for this regiment:
WILLIAM E. CANNADY of Granville, Colonel; Captain; Three of the Chatham
Guards: Lt. Col.;  ______, Major; and Lt. MANNING, Adjutant. JOHN TAYLOR, ESQ. 
has been elected Captain of the Chatham Guard, vice-Captain IHRIE, promoted. 
LT. COL. LEE of the First Regiment, was elected Colonel of this but declined.
