C., 1833. He was then 76 years of age and therefore born in 1757. He entered the service in Orange County North Carolina, in 1779, or 1780, and served in several different tour in North Carolina troops under Captains Douglas, John Williams, William Lytle, Major Grafton, and Colonels Joseph Lewis, John Hogan, Dudley, and Robert Mebane. The last was his brother and arranged an exchange when he, John, was taken prisoner. He served as a private and as a captain. Note:- Captain John Mebane died September 13, 1837.
