Two gentlemen of that neighborhood Messrs James Ferrell and Frank Gunter, the latter a young man some nineteen years of age went out turkey hunting but neither knew the other was out. They both began yelping in the same body of woods, and each mistook the other for a turkey. Young Gunter commenced advancing, cautiously crawling through the woods to his supposed game. Farrell being hid and eagerly watching the direction from which his yelping was answered, until the unfortunate Gunter was seen through the bushes, when Ferrell took deliberate aim with his rifle and shot him dead through the brain. He then ran eagerly to what he supposed was his turkey and found his young friend, Gunter stretched out a corpse. Mr. Ferrell has hardly spoken a word since. Both were citizens of Lockville and were intimate friends File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/chatham/obits/g/gunter2023ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ncfiles/ File size: 1.6 Kb
