   DIED, at Pittsboro', Chatham County, on Saturday morning last, GOV. JOHN 
OWEN, known throughout the state as one of our most distinguished and valued 
citizens. GOV. OWEN filled, for two years, the executive chair of state, 
repeatedly represented his county in the Legislature, and occupied other 
stations of trush and honor; and in all stations, whether in the public or 
private life, the mild and gentle virtues shone conspiciously, and endeared 
him to all who had the happiness of coming within his influence. It is justly 
said, by the ditor of the Register, that he has gone down to the grave in the 
ripeness of manhood and in the midst of his usefulness, leaving his family the 
proud inheritance of an unblemished name, and to all the encouraging example 
of a useful and honorable life.
