CHATHAM COUNTY, NC - WILLS - Hiram Burns, Aug 1860 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Will - Hiram Burns - Will Book D, pg. 69 Aug. 1860 - 1860 State of North Carolina Chatham County, Aug. 11th 1860 In the name of God amen. I Hiram Burns of the county and state aforesaid being weak in body but sound in mind do make this my last will and testament as follows. It is my will that all my just debts be paid. It is my will that my son John Cooper have fifteen dollars as consideration of labor he performed after he was free. It is my will that my three daughters Hannah B. Mary J. and Cornelia each have a cow and calf and two ewes and lambs. It is also my will that my beloved wife Elizabeth have all my estate both real personal and perishable to her use during her natural life with the exception of of one acre of land which I give to my son in law Alvis Stone on which his barn is built. It is my will and desire that at the death of my wife Elizabeth that all my property or estate be equally divided between all my children. --- James E. Burns, William M. Burns, John C. Burns, David (?) Burns, Alfred B. Burns, Benjamin F. Burns, Sarah A. Stone, Hannah B. Burns, Mary J. Burns, with the provision that James E. Burns account for thirty dollars to the Estate before he can come in as an equal heir. This in consideration of a farm(?) that I let him have. He is also to account for Twenty-five dollars it being for one year I gave him before he became of age. It being more than I gave the rest of my children. Lastly, I appoint my wife Elizabeth and Alvis Stone my executors. In witness whereof I herewith affix my hand and seal this day and date above written. In the presence of his John B.
