In the name of God Amen, I Mary Cook of the County of Chatham, and State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, thanks be to God for the same, but in a low state of health, and cauling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all persons once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament, that is to say principally and first of all I recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be decently layed in a Christian like manner at the descretion of my executor, and as touching such worldly estate as it has pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give, demise and dispose of in the following manner. Item~My will is that my son John Cook have the one half of the estate that my brother Joseph Foushee has left to me in his last will and testament and the other half of said estate to be equally divided between the children of my daughter Anna Pelmonton(??) Item~My will is that my grandson Abraham West have my loom which he has now in his possession. Item~My will is that all the rest of my estate which consists of household and kitchen furniture be sold and my daughter Mary Fike have one dollar and no more out of the money out of such sale and the rest of the money arising from said sale to go, the one half of it to the children of my daughter Susannah Curl, and the other half to the children of my daughter Anna Pelmenton(??) and lastly, I appoint my son John Cook my sole executor to this my last will and testament only making all others, do make this, and this one only to be my last will and testament . In witness of which I have hereto set my hand and seal this 26th day in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven. Signed, sealed, and pronounced in the presents Of us. S.
